Acupuncture

Acupuncture

Acupuncture relieves pain and stimulates the body’s own healing systems without machines or medications. For some patients and conditions, acupuncture alone is enough. LVOSP’s trained therapists administer fine needles through the skin to specific locations in the body with little or no discomfort. LVOSP therapists use the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute (AFCI) approach that combines Western anatomy and physiology with Traditional Chinese Medicine. Treatments last 15 to 30 minutes, and the number of treatments will vary with each individual and the condition being treated.

Intramuscular stimulation (Dry needling)

Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) is a technique to stimulate healing and to relieve chronic pain in deep muscles without drugs. Trained practitioners use thin acupuncture needles that painlessly penetrate skin and unaffected tissues to reach over-sensitized nerves and tight muscles. The patient will feel the target muscle tighten and then fully relax. The practitioner may also “needle” near the spine to reach nerve roots that have become irritated and sensitive.
